Global Energy Group has revealed it will “integrate” and rebrand its oil and gas businesses under the same banner.
The Inverness-headquartered energy sector services firm said it has already changed the name of its Isleburn fabrication division in March to Global Energy Group and that yesterday the same occurred to Caledonian Petroleum Services in Aberdeen.
Roy MacGregor, chairman, said the move would bring “clarity to the market in these difficult times” as well as “efficiencies”.
A company spokeswoman confirmed that redundancies are underway at both divisions, but declined to confirm how many jobs would be affected except to say losses would be minimal.
She said: “We cannot confirm a number but hope that by going through this integration process and reacting the market we will be able to keep job loses to a minimum.”
Last year Global revealed that it aimed to cut 90 jobs from its 600 strong workforce at Isleburn in Ross-shire, Aberdeen and Fife.
Mr MacGregor acquired Evanton-based Isleburn in 2005 from Ross County director Mike Kydd.
Caledonian Petroleum Services was snapped up by Global in 2010 after its parent firm, the listed Sovereign Oilfield Group, went into administration.
Global, which has operations in Europe, Asia Pacific, the Middle East and the Americas, said its UK water, utilities, chemical & power businesses will be unaffected by the reorganisation and will “continue to build on their strong identities and recognition within their respective fields”.
Mr MacGregor said: “Bringing our UK oil and gas businesses together under the internationally-recognised Global brand is the next logical step in the evolution of the group.
“With a proven reputation for innovation, we are confident this proactive step will enable the group to better respond to the needs of clients in the face of a volatile market.
“We very much believe in the ‘stronger together’ mantra at Global and integrating the group’s UK oil and gas businesses will not only bring clarity to the market in these difficult times but also offer combined strength and capabilities in each of the sectors we operate in.
“The bringing together of key personnel from sector-leading companies in the group – into new business units – brings the promise of further innovation and potential efficiencies for our clients as we go forward.”
