US crude oil exports rose to a record 662,000 barrels per day in May rising up from 591,000bpd in April.
The fresh data has been revealed from the US Census Bureau.
Canada accounted for the most US crude exports at 308,000bpd, followed by the Netherlands at 110,000bpd and Curacao at 67,000bpd.
Other destinations included the UK with 36,000bpd, Japan at 29,000bpd and Italy at 23,000bpd.
According to US government data, the total export figure was the highest on record since at least 1920.
