Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority has given Lundin Petroleum permission to drill an exploration well in the Barents Sea.
The well is in a prospect called Filicudi and lies about 218 kilometres north-west of Hammerfest.
Drilling is scheduled to begin in early September and will last 59 days.
The Leiv Eiriksson mobile facility, operated by Ocean Rig, will drill the well.
