A Norwegian oil service company said today it had won a contract to provide environmental assessments for a number of Shell’s UK North Sea fields.
Fjords Processing’s environmental impact studies will focus on water discharges from the Nelson, Gannet, Shearwater, Leman, Brent C and Pierce fields this year, and from the Lomond and Everest streams in coming years.
Fjords will carry out the ecotoxicology tests and computer modelling at its base at Flotta in Orkney.
It will then compile reports for regulators to ensure Shell is complying with new guidance.
Glen McLellan, Fjords’ UK general manager, said: “This contract underlines our market leadership for risk-based-approach studies in the UK sector of the North Sea.
“Across our wellstream operations, we have shaped ourselves to enable field operators to release precious production revenue in tough economic conditions through world-leading expertise, cost-focus and a passion for problem-solving.”
