A major North-east engineering firm has announced it will enter a consultation process regarding potential redundancies.
Score (Europe) is anticipating the loss of around 60 posts from its UK facilities – though the majority of the redundancies will be made in Scotland.
Conrad Ritchie, managing director of the firm, said: “Despite internal restructuring, successful business diversification, contract wins and efficiency drives over the past 18-month period a larger redundancy programme has regretfully become unavoidable. This is primarily due to the continued low oil price and industry downturn which has had a major impact upon the sectors in which we operate.
“The workforce were advised last week of the potential redundancies. The eventual loss of 60 posts is anticipated.
“This will affect personnel UK-wide. However, the majority of redundancies are likely to be in Scotland.”
Score Group saw an 82% drop in profits earlier this year.
