The number of rigs operating in the US went up this week, according to Baker Hughes.
US rigs were up two from last week to 524, with oil rigs up three to 428, gas rigs down two to 94, and miscellaneous rigs up one to two.
Year-on-year the US rig count is down 271 rigs from last year’s 795, with oil rigs down 177, gas rigs down 189, and miscellaneous rigs up one.
The US offshore rig count is 23, up one from last week, and down nine rigs year-on-year.
Canada’s rig count came in at 165 – three better off than last week, but 15 short of last years’ figure.
