Total has agreed a drilling extension with Rowan Drilling.
The French major has hired the Rowan Gorilla V for an additional eight months and has reserved the right to keep it for a further six months. The rig will carry-out work in Norway.
The hire comes in the wake of a string of terminations for Rowan.
ConocoPhillips confirmed it would terminate its work with the Rowan Gorilla VI Jack-up by the end of next year.
Colbalt also opted for early termination of its contract for the Rowan Reliance, an ultra-deepwater drillship.
Colbalt will payout $96million to cut its contract short.
Rowan said plans to sell its Gorilla II jack-up rig were moving ahead. The sale is expected to close by the end of the year.
