Technip and FMC Technologies said yesterday that they had received anti-trust clearance from the Brazilian authorities ahead of their proposed merger.
The French and US firms said in a joint statement that the decision was subject to a 15-day waiting period.
Antitrust authorities in the EU, the US, India, Turkey, Mexico and Russia have already approved the deal.
Both firms will hold shareholders’ meetings on December 5 to vote on the link-up.
The deal is expected to go through in early 2017, they said in a joint statement.
The two companies have operations in the north-east of Scotland.
