The number of rigs operating in the US went up this week, the latest Baker Hughes rig count shows.
US rigs were up 27 from the previous week to 624, with oil rigs up 21 to 498, gas rigs up six to 125, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at one, according to the rig count, which acts as a barometer for the drilling industry.
Year-on-year the US rig count was down 85 from last year’s 709, with oil rigs down 26, gas rigs down 60, and miscellaneous rigs up one.
The US offshore rig count is 22, level with the previous week, and down one rig year-on-year.
Canada’s rig count came in at 230 – up by 30 week-on-week, and 56 ahead of last years’ figure.
