The number of rigs operating in the US went up this week, the latest Baker Hughes rig count shows.
US rigs were up 13 from the previous week to 637, with oil rigs up 12 to 510 and gas rigs up one to 126, according to the rig count, which acts as a barometer for the drilling industry.
Year-on-year the US rig count was down 72 from last year’s 709, with oil rigs down 31 and gas rigs down 42.
The US offshore rig count is 22, level with the previous week, and down two rigs year-on-year.
Canada’s rig count came in at 234 – up by four week-on-week, and 72 ahead of last years’ figure.
