Ineos has lodged plans for a security management centre and gatehouse which could permanently close off a section of public road in Falkirk.
The company had applied to close the stretch of the A904 from Inchyra Road to Wholeflats Road two years ago.
Then in 2016 the petrochemicals giant submitted a proposal of application notice with Falkirk Council to permanently close the road between Inchyra Road and Avon Bridge.
It has since been confirmed by the council that Ineos has lodged a fill planning application for the security management centre.
A spokesman for Ineos said: “We firmly believe removing public access along a segment of road that bisects the site is in the interests of safety and security.”
Earlier this month, Ineos was given a Health and Safety (HSE) notice at its Grangemouth site.
