Two Scottish businessmen have given their backing to a Middle East based crew management specialist.
Kevin Smith and Stewart MacRae have bankrolled a “significant” inward investment to the Dubai-headquartered oil and gas and offshore staffing firm OLYMPUS Marine Services.
The company currently employs over 20 office staff and 200 offshore personnel across bases in the Middle East, India and Southeast Asia supplying drilling, marine and catering personnel.
Smith and MacRae have been involved in running and backing service firms in the past, including oil and gas recruitment specialists Atlantic Resourcing and Offshore Marine Services.
The pair will work with OLYMPUS Marine Services founder V.S Devagiri, who will remain as a shareholder, to expand and develop the company.
V.S Devagiri who has more than 35 years industry experience, said “Our goal is to become the leading crew management company for the oil and gas industry worldwide.”
“Alongside Kevin Smith and Stewart MacRae, with their extensive international experience, expertise and industry knowledge, we look forward to building a successful manpower management company servicing offshore and onshore activities in the oil and gas sector.”
Smith added: “At a time when the size of a company’s workforce needs to be flexible to reflect changing requirements, having a trusted pool of multi-national skilled personnel available is something that will be of major interest to the oil and gas industry. OLYMPUS Marine Services is a company with a lot of potential and Stewart and I believe we can expand on its recent successes.”
MacRae said: “At a time when many companies working in oil and gas are finding business more challenging than ever, there’s an opportunity to provide solutions suitable to the new trading environment.
“To us, OLYMPUS Marine Services is a natural investment and we believe it will be a real asset to many in the energy industry.”
