Shetland-based engineering company Ocean Kinetics Limited is set to create 21 full time jobs with a new one-stop engineering shop.
Development agency Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) has pumped £420,000 into the company’s £1.1m expansion project.
The money will be used develop an all-under-one-roof engineering solutions centre at the firm’s base in Lerwick.
The jobs will be created over the next three years including in the fields of production, inspection, stores, marine, and apprentices.
The company has pledged to invest in extensive training and development of their staff over the three year period, as well as installing a bespoke new management information system.
Managing director John Henderson said: “By providing an innovative one-stop-shop for engineering services, we will be able to offer a single source efficient and cost effective solution to clients. We also plan to further expand our work offshore and internationally.
“This will benefit new and existing customers in the renewables, utilities, marine, decommissioning and the oil and gas industry.
“The modern digital system will help us improve budgeting and cost controls within the organisation, which will increase efficiencies and reduce waste.”
