An animal charity has been given a boost of more than £17,000 from a north-east oil company.
Staff at ASCO nominated the Scottish SPCA as its benefactor for a year of fundraising efforts – which included runs, a family fun day, a ladies day and even the Great Scottish Swim.
The dedicated team spent 2016 supporting the charity, and last week handed over a cheque for the grand total.
Sam Begg, from ASCO, said: “Our staff nominate charities to support that are close to our hearts and the Scottish SPCA will always be one of them.
“Throughout our partnership, we have witnessed the incredible work carried out by the team from centre staff to fundraisers to inspectors – animal welfare is their absolute priority and the level of care given by staff is second to none.
“We were a little saddened to hear of the lack of corporate sponsors in 2016 considering the number of us living with pets, so we made it our priority to not only push our fundraising target but to raise awareness for the charity and their Aberdeenshire centre in the process.”
Graeme Innes, manager of the Scottish SPCA centre at Drumoak, said: “The team from ASCO have done a fantastic job and we really appreciate the work they’ve done to fundraise for us.
“The team really have gone above and beyond to help us – even spending a day repainting our stables.
“Suffice to say, between this and the incredible amount they’ve raised, Asco really have made a huge difference to what we can achieve at the society.”
