Oil workers on a North Sea platform have been left without internet access.
The data allowance for the Alba Northern platform is said to have been completely used up for the month ahead of its renewal date.
Operator Chevron said there is “access” issues with the recreational wifi system and confirmed that there was no internet access as of yesterday evening.
It is understood that the outage started 24 hours earlier when platform workers started to complain about a lag in browser speed.
Phones and satellite TV are not affected.
A Chevron spokesman said: “Chevron North Sea Ltd is working to address access issues to the recreational Wi-Fi for staff on the Alba Northern platform.
“This is a temporary issue and recreational access to satellite TV and phone is not affected.”
