Statoil has been granted permission to drill a fourth well on the Snøhvit gas field.
The operator was granted consent in July last year to use the Songa Enabler to drill three wells on the field, which is located in the Barents Sea north-west of Hammerfest.
Drilling on the fourth well is scheduled to begin in mid-March and will last 65 days.
Snøhvit has been developed using a subsea production facility.
The gas is transported onshore through a 143-kilometre-long pipeline to Melkøya, off Hammerfest. Production began in 2007.
Songa Enabler is a semi-submersible drilling facility of the CAT D type. It was delivered by the Daewoo yard in South Korea in 2016.
