Stolt-Nielsen Gas has established a subsidiary which will develop small scale liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply chains serving areas where off-the-grid customers lack access to natural gas.
The company – Avenir LNG Limited – will build a terminal and distribution facility in Sardinia and is also planning a venture to provide LNG gas to areas of Scotland not served by the existing natural-gas grid.
Stolt-Nielsen Gas has also agreed a deal with Keppel Singmarine for the construction of two 7,500 coal bed methane liquefied natural gas carriers.
The contract is valued at $80million, with an option to purchase three additional similar ships.
The ships will be built at Keppel Singmarine’s shipyard in Nantong, China, with deliveries scheduled in the second and third quarter of 2019 respectively.
