Aker Solutions’ takeover of a rival oil services firm will lead to about 70 job losses in Norway, a media report said.
Aker Solutions completed the £20million deal to buy Reinertsen, an offshore maintenance and modifications supplier, at the start of April.
A spokeswoman for Aker told the Adressa newspaper that the cuts would affect staff members based in Trondheim and Bergen.
She was cited as saying: “In connection with the acquisition of Reinertsen we have had a review of resources and expected work volumes.
“This has been a need to reduce exercise capacity in Trondheim and Bergen with about 70 positions, which we informed the employees about the town hall meetings for around two weeks ago.”
