Italian energy firm Eni has hired Saipem for offshore drilling in Mozambique using drillship Saipem 12000.
The contract will run for 15 months, and will commence in mid-2019, with options up to a maximum 45 months.
The award comes after Eni gave the Coral FLNG project development the green light yesterday.
The company was also awarded separate offshore drilling contracts in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea.
The Saipem 12000 will be used to carry out work in Cyprus – commencing in the fourth quarter of 2017 – before it begins work in Mozambique.
The semi-submersible rig Scarabeo 9 will be used for the drilling of one well in the Black Sea.
The total value of the new contracts is $230 million.
