Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority has said Statoil can use the Bideford Dolphin rig to drill and complete a well on the Snorre field.
Drilling is slated to start on 7 July and should last 110 days.
Bideford Dolphin, built at Aker Verdal in 1975 and modified in 1998, is operated by Dolphin Drilling.
Snorre is an oil field in the Tampen area of the North Sea, around 150 kilometres west of Florø.
The field has been developed using two floating integrated production facilities, Snorre A and B, and one subsea template tied back to Snorre A.
Production at Snorre began in 1992.
