Norwegian oil major Statoil has awarded recently created Solstad Farstad a contract for one of its platform supply vessels (PSV).
The deal covers the use of the 2008-built PSV Far Searcher on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
The contract will commence in September and is to run for an initial period of five years, with Statoil having the option to extend the contract.
As part of the contract a new energy storage system will be installed on the ship, and as a result the vessel will be assigned the notation “Battery Power” by DNV GL.
The commercial terms of the agreement will be kept confidential between both parties.
Solstad Farstad was created after a merger between Solstad Offshore and Farstad Shipping last week.
