Norway has cleared Statoil to drill a pair of wells on the Carmen prospect.
The Deepsea Bergen rig will drill the wells once it finishes a job on the Brasse field for Faroe Petroleum.
Statoil is the operator of Carmen with an interest of 35%.
The other licensees are ConocoPhillips, Petoro and Eni Norge.
The wells will be drilled about nine kilometres north of the Heidrun platform.
The production licence for the prospect was awarded in 1986.
