US firm Marathon Oil has increased production and narrowed losses mainly due to growth in state-side shale plays this year.
The Houston headquartered operation reported half yearly revenues up at £1.6billion compared to £1.3billion in the same period last year.
However loss before taxes to June 30 amounted to £97million this year compared to the loss of £610million in the first six months of 2016.
President and chief executive Lee Tillman said the results were due to “outstanding” asset performance, including a 6% sequential growth in US resources.
