Russian energy giant Rosneft’s chief executive is to appear as a witness in the trial of a former government minister.
Alexei Ulyukayev, the former economy minister is on trial over bribery allegations.
The Investigative Committee of Russia announced that Ulyukaev had been detained in November 2016.
The move was said to be in connection with allegations of a $2 million bribe for an assessment that led to the Kremlin-controlled oil company Rosneft’s acquisition of a 50% stake in Bashneft.
Russian President Vladimir Putin later dismissed Ulyukaev from his role.
He denies the charges.
Spokeswoman for the Zamoskvoretsky district court told news agency Reuters that Sechin is a witness for the prosecution.
