Up to 140 jobs are to be axed at Aker Solutions as the oil crisis continues to cut deep.
Positions at the firm’s Tranby production department in Norway are expected to go this autumn.
Employees were told yesterday.
A spokeswoman for the firm said: “Aker Solutions yesterday notified employees of measures to further streamline and strengthen the company’s subsea products organization in Norway amid the continued market slowdown.
“The company will reduce the workforce capacity at its subsea manufacturing facility in Tranby by as many 140 positions, mainly non-office and support functions.
“It will also move about 150 subsea products employees, primarily engineers, from Fornebu to Tranby to further develop the site as a technology center. These measures will take place in the second half of this year.”
Negotiations are reported to be ongoing with management to see what the options are for retirement and and relocation within the group.
