The clean-up and salvage mission in Houston, Texas continues today with the removal of a sunken drydock in an industrial region of the Houston Shipping Channel, close to the city’s major oil refineries and petrochemical plants.
It is expected that the removal will take some time as it affects the main stem of the city’s main shipping channel.
Alberto Hernandez, watch supervisor at the Coast Guard Vessel Service, stated he was unsure when the drydock would be operational for oil and gas trade in Houston.
He said: “There is no time frame. This is the main port of Houston City Docks, they are blocked due to these salvage operations.”
Oil and gas trade has resumed within the Gulf Coast, according to the U.S coastguard and Reuters.
