Aker BP has been granted the green light for its latest wildcat.
The well will be drilled about 15 kilometres southwest of the Knarr field. Aker BP is the operator with an ownership interest of 30 per cent. The other licensees are Capricorn Norge AS (25 per cent),Wellesley Petroleum AS (25 per cent) and MOL Norge AS (20 per cent). The area in this licence consists of part of block 34/2 and part of block 34/5.
Production licence 790 was awarded on 6 February 2015 in APA 2014. This is the first well to be drilled in the licence.
Well 34/2-5 S will be drilled from the Transocean Arctic drilling facility at position 61°45’34” north and 2°35’9.53″ east following completion of production drilling on the Alvheim field, according to the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate.
