Global drilling firm Saipem has announced a £530million contract win for the development of the Duqm Refinery located in the north east of Oman
The contract has been agreed and awarded by Duqm REfinery and Petrochemical Industries Company L.L.C, a Joint Venture between the Oman Oil Company (OOC), the national oil company, and Kuwait Petroleum International (KPI).
The work Saipem will carry our involves engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning.
Once finished the refinery will have a capacity of around 230,000 barrels per day.
Stefano Cao, Saipem CEO, said: “We welcome with particular satisfaction the awarding of this new contract which signals the relaunch of our activities in Oman, a country in which Saipem has operated successfully in the past”.
