A fire which had broken out at an oil storage tank at Tankstore’s Pulau Busing terminal in Singapore has now been extinguished according to authorities.
Reports surfaced yesterday that emergency crews were dealing with a fire that was believed to have broken out at 6:30pm local time.
However, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed today that the fire has been extinguished.
“After approximately 6 hours of intense firefighting operations, the raging oil storage tank fire was extinguished,” the SCDF said on its Facebook page.
The cause of the blaze is yet unknown and no fatalities or injuries have been reported.
The Singapore tank is believed to have contained fuel oil.
Thirty-one firefighting and support vehicles and 128 SCDF personnel were involved in the operations, said the SCDF, adding that it had been alerted to the fire at about 5:50 p.m. on Tuesday.
Despite the seriousness of the blaze its not thought that it will have any major impact on oil trading and supply within Singapore.
