Petrofac announced yesterdayday that it is to shed nearly 100 jobs within the UK, mainly within its onshore office staff.
The oilfield services firm, who have an office in Aberdeen, said that they have “started consultation” with those 90 employees who are to lose their jobs.
Patrofac has not yet confirmed how many, if any, jobs are to go in north-east Scotland but did say that it will be “spread out across the UK”.
A Petrofac spokesperson said: “We have implemented a number of initiatives to ensure we can remain an efficient, competitive and sustainable business with operational excellence and investment in technology at the forefront of our delivery model.
“To support these changes, we are consulting with our onshore employees in the UK on the future size of our business.
“We anticipate that this will result in a reduction of up to 90 positions held by staff and contractors.
“Final decisions will only be made after full consultation with employees and their representatives. We are committed to supporting our employees through this process. As such, every effort will be made to minimise redundancies and to find alternative posts in other parts of our business for those employees whose positions may close.”
