THE Scots-born vice-chairman of US oil and gas group Chevron, Peter Robertson, will be keynote speaker at the Scottish Council for Development and Industry’s annual lecture in January.
The SCDI lecture is being held in Aberdeen, with an audience of about 250 senior representatives of the private and public sectors from throughout Scotland.
The 2008 speaker was Paul Walsh, chief executive of drinks giant Diageo.
SCDI north-east manager Ian Armstrong said: “SCDI is delighted that in Peter Robertson we have another outstanding global business leader speaking at our flagship annual lecture.
“Energy issues are at the top of the agenda across SCDI’s wide membership and Peter has great knowledge and expertise of the energy sector.
“It will particularly interesting to get his perspective on the global economic situation and the opportunities and challenges for Scotland.”
The event will take place on Tuesday, January 13, in the Marcliffe Hotel and Spa.
Since becoming vice-chairman of Chevron in January, 2002, Mr Robertson has had a wide variety of responsibilities including direction of the company’s worldwide exploration, production and global gas businesses.
He collaborates closely with the chairman in overseeing strategies and operations of the company.
Mr Robertson, who is from Edinburgh, has recently agreed to join Scottish Enterprise’s influential International Advisory Board.
