MORE than 50 representatives of the oil and gas industry met in Aberdeen yesterday to discuss how to safely extend the life of North Sea pipelines.
The second annual Oil and Gas Pipeline Integrity Summit opened at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre and will continue today.
Delegates from companies including Chevron, Marathon and Royal Dutch Shell all attended the conference.
Ashley Hermitage, of event organiser Arena International, said the gathering was an opportunity for operators and organisations such as the Health and Safety Executive to find ways to extend the use of infrastructure until it had met or exceeded its intended design life.
Oil prices fell in choppy trading yesterday as fears that Greece might default on its debt pushed prices to nearly eight-week lows and a brief recovery on supportive US data failed to hold.
Brent crude for November fell $1.05 to $101.71 a barrel, a having earlier hit $100.71, an eight-week low.
US November crude fell $1.59 to $77.61 a barrel, having swung between $76.85 to $79.64 during the session.
