ABERDEEN-BASED Vertec Engineering announced two key appointments yesterday to strengthen its management team.
Granite City company Offshore Containers last week completed its acquisitions of Vertec and the hire division of Labtech Systems from Sovereign Oilfield Group for £5.45million.
The Vertec and Labtech operations will both trade under the Vertec name.
Craig McLeish becomes chairman of Vertec, while Stuart Mortimer has been appointed as a non-executive director.
The pair were previously directors of Duffy and McGovern Accommodation Services, which was sold to Superior Energy Services in January 2007. They are now senior executive directors of Aberdeen firm External Corrosion Management (trading as Metacor), which provides corrosion and coating-maintenance planning services to many major oil and gas operators.
Offshore Containers chief executive John Heiton said: “The appointments of both Craig and Stuart – who are well known and respected within the industry – are vital at this important stage in Vertec’s evolution as we move forward with our aim to grow the company into the number one worldwide supplier of well service and control cabins in terms of design and build, rental and service and maintenance.
“Having worked in the supply of cabins to the oil and gas sector for many years, both men have proven track records of growing companies with excellent local reputations into successful global operations. With their support, and further planned investment, I believe we are well on our way to our aim of establishing Vertec as one of the leading worldwide providers of service cabins and workshop containers.”
The Offshore Containers group was formed in 2008 by private-equity investment firms Lansdowne Capital and Claver Capital.
