The largest labour union in Norway announced the agreement of a new pay deal today, while a smaller workers union held off from accepting terms.
Industri Energi, the biggest union representing workers on Norwegian offshore drilling rigs, said its 4,000 member would receive a “solid increase” in wages.
Yet, the Norwegian Shipowners’ Association has said the smaller Safe union would consider its options before the June 22 deadline.
Safe said the pay offer was “smaller than it had hoped for” but that its members would either approve or reject the deal by the deadline.
Companies drilling on behalf of oil firms in Norwegian waters include Transocean, Fred. Olsen Energy , Odfjell Drilling, Rowan Companies, Maersk Drilling and Seadrill.
