Aberdeen-based TEMS international has been awarded a £1million contract with US explorer Murphy Oil.
The deal will see TEMS provide fluid management an environmental compliance services on a number of Murphy’s rigs in the Gulf of Mexico and south-east Asia.
TEMS (Turnkey Environmental Management Services) will initially create six new full-time jobs for the contract.
The company will identify where improvements can be made to the rigs’ fluid systems to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
It will also ensure that operations remain compliant with environmental laws.
Bill Walkingshaw, TEMS International managing director, said: “Improving drilling efficiency and ensuring environmental and regulatory compliance remain key drivers in oil and gas provinces around the world, as illustrated by this contract award. By achieving cost efficiencies operators can make campaigns more sustainable, which can in turn create confidence across the whole industry.”
TEMS, which started up last year, said this is its second global contract in the last six months, securing a multi-year deal with Anglo-Australian firm BHP in February.
The firm is moving ahead with plans to expand in the Far East and Australia, recently appointing an agent in Kuala Lumpur.
That comes months after TEMS set up an office in the United States.
Mr Wilkingshaw added: “For TEMS International, at this stage in our evolution, securing a second major contract within a six-month period is significant.
“The plan is to grow our business internationally and the structure we are putting in place will support this. Our decision to establish an American office is already having positive results, with our team holding a lot of good discussions with operators at OTC.”
