GLOBAL subsea technology firm Rotech, of Aberdeen, said yesterday it had secured contracts worth more than £8million in Europe during the past year, exceeding its targets.
The group, which provides engineering services for the oil, gas and renewable-energy sectors, employs more than 150 people across three operating bases in Aberdeen, Houston and Singapore.
Rotech said £5million of the £8million 12-month contract haul for its central region business had come from contracts secured since the start of 2011.
Most of the orders were in the renewables market, with projects including work on a power line from Britain to the Netherlands and subsea cable operations for what will be the UK’s biggest operating windfarm off the south-east coast of England.
Rotech has expanded and restructured its business-development team in Aberdeen to manage growing work in the renewables sector. Newly appointed vice-president of business development, for the central region, Stephen Cochrane, previously managed projects in the oil and gas sector and growth in renewables.
Rotech chief executive Tim Sheehan said: “We have exceeded all expectations in the UK and Europe during the past year. We formed the central region to maximise opportunities closer to home and strengthen our focus on the renewables market.
“Up to 70% of our central region turnover since January has come through renewables projects.”
