Power has been restored to the drilling rig being used by Rockhopper Exploration in the Falklands after an outage resulted in staff being evacuated.
The oil and gas explorer said today that non-essential staff were evacuated to Stanley as a precautionary measure after the Ocean Guardian rig lost power on Sunday.
It had been preparing to move to its next well location in the North Falklands Basin having completed the plugging of Rockhopper’s 14/10-8 well.
Rockhopper said power was now back on and checks were underway before restarting normal operations within a week and moving to the next well, 14/10-9.
