A FORMER boss at French oil giant Total is joining Aberdeen-based Wood Group as a non-executive director.
Michel Contie, an ex-managing director of Total E&P UK, joins the Wood Group board on Wednesday.
He spent about 35 years in various senior executive positions with Total, where he was latterly senior vice-president for northern Europe and a member of the exploration and production management committee.
He retired from the company last year.
Sir Ian Wood, chairman of Wood Group, said: “We are delighted to welcome Michel to the board. His wealth of experience and wide knowledge of the international oil and gas industry will be of great value to the group.”
Wood also said yesterday it had been awarded a three-year operations and maintenance support-service contract by Chevron North Sea for its Alba, Captain and Erskine fields.
Worth an estimated £12million over the period, the deal includes two one-year extension options. Chevron operations manager Steve Conner said: “We are delighted that Wood Group will be providing further support for our North Sea assets.”
Last October, Chevron awarded Wood a three-year engineering and construction contract worth an estimated £45million.
