Oil exploration firm Aker BP has received consent from Petroleum Safety Authority Norway for the removal of the facilities on the Jette field in the central North Sea.
Six kilometers south of the Jotun field, Jette was proven in 2009 with the plan for development and operation (PDO) granted to Aker BP back in 2012.
The field was developed using a subsea template with two production wells tied to the Jotun A facility.
Production ceased there in December 2016.
Once the wells have been permanently plugged, the work to remove the structures and facilities is planned to begin in summer 2018 and will continue through 2019 and 2020.
Petroleum Safety Authority Norway said they have granted Aker BP all the consents “that the company applied for”.
