ESS Support Services Worldwide, the Aberdeen-based catering and facility-management subsidiary of international foodservice firm Compass Group, has secured a contract extension, worth £12million, with rig operator Transocean Offshore (North Sea).
The deal, which is for three years, means ESS will start provide catering and hotel services across an additional eight units that were part of the 2007 Transocean-GlobalSantaFe merger.
This will increase the total number of Transocean rigs supported by ESS in the UK and Dutch sectors to 19 and involve the transfer of 120 employees to ESS.
The transfer will take place at the end of July. ESS managing director Alain Morize said: “The new contract reflects a positive approach to partnership between Transocean and ESS.”
Compass provides catering and support services at a wide range of sites including schools, colleges and hospitals as well as at leisure and in defence, offshore and remote locations.
The group employs 66,000 people the UK and Ireland at more than 7,000 operating units.
