ExxonMobil has awarded the Kiewit-Aker Contractors joint venture the front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract for the concrete gravity base of the planned Hebron field production platform, which will be installed offshore Newfoundland.
The $70million contract will also include site preparation, and ExxonMobil has reserved the option to subsequently award the JV the detailed engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services contract.
The FEED work starts immediately, with site preparation at the Bull Arm fabrication yard in Newfoundland to be performed once permits are received.
Hebron is the second development offshore Newfoundland to employ a concrete GBS.
