ABERDEEN-BASED drilling contractor KCA Deutag announced yesterday the recruitment of a new chairman, Norman McKay, with immediate effect, as its set its sights on further growth.
Mr McKay was previously president of Smith Technologies. Before that, following 24 years at Schlumberger, the graduate in chemical engineering from Heriot-Watt University was president of Exterran’s eastern hemisphere operations.
He replaces Alex Knaster, who remains on the board, and will focus on strategic planning and merger and acquisition opportunities.
KCA Deutag also said it had recruited Alan Bigman to the management team as director of capital markets and mergers and acquisitions.
Mr Bigman’s past roles include chief financial officer at global chemical company Lyondellbasell Industries and vice-president, director of corporate finance at Tyumen Oil Company.
