ConocoPhillips will implement “modest” workforce reductions in the US next month.
The company has confiemed the reductions in mid-September will primarily affect staff in Houston and Lower 48 states employees.
ConocoPhillips has not said how many staff will be affected.
A spokesman said: “ConocoPhillips has undertaken a series of cost-reduction measures over the last few years in response to the downturn, including exiting higher cost of supply lines of business and divesting several non-core assets.
“We have been transparent with employees that targeted modest workforce reductions in certain areas of our business may be necessary from time to time to help us operate more efficiently.”
The firm separately announced plans to cut 450 workers across the UK in April.
Those staff cuts are anticipated to take place between October next year and April 2020.
