Norwegian oil service firm Aker Solutions today warned employees at its Agotnes yard that there could be as many as 150 layoffs at the site.
The firm blamed “challenging market conditions” and “price pressure” for any potential loss of jobs within its subsea service business.
It’s thought the 150 roles would be lost within the company’s offshore, workshop and office space at the Agotnes yard.
A spokeswoman for Aker Solutions said: “Aker Solutions today notified employees at its subsea services business at Agotnes, Norway of the need for temporary layoffs because of a continued challenging market situation.
“About 150 subsea services employees may be temporarily laid off.”
Last year, Aker Solutions said it would be making a number of job cuts across its operations.
The Norwegian firm let go around 650 staff in India, the UK and Norway.
