THE latest developments in financial issues and incentives for the renewable energy industry will come under the spotlight today at an event hosted by Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group (AREG).
More than 60 AREG members are to attend the Financing the Renewables Sector seminar at the Palm Court Hotel, Aberdeen, where speakers from the world of finance will address key topical themes concerning the sustainable energy sector.
Steve Burgen and Rhian Whitton, of professional services company Deloitte, will provide an overview of tax incentives and green taxes for companies active in the renewables’ sector.
Meanwhile, talking about corporate finance, commercialisation and investor readiness will be Chris Durling, of accountancy and business services provider Baker Tilly. Michael Donahue, of accountant and business adviser Johnston Carmichael, will speak about international tax issues. Morag McCorkindale, chief operating officer for AREG, said: “The renewables industry has achieved considerable momentum. However, given the general economic climate, this is an appropriate time to consider the financial component of renewable developments. We are fortunate to have a wealth of local energy project expertise and look forward to hearing what these experts have to say.”
