TAQA Bratani, the UK subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi national energy company, said yesterday it had now concluded months of major integrity and upgrade work on all of its four offshore installations – Tern, Eider, Cormorant Alpha and North Cormorant.
The firm said the extensive workscope resulted in one of the biggest shutdown seasons carried out on the installations, with more than 60,000 man hours of work completed safely and on schedule.
Leo Koot, TAQA Bratani’s managing director, said: “As an operator of mature assets, ensuring our installations are safe and fit for purpose is our priority.
“We have worked relentlessly to ensure the integrity and performance of our assets, resulting in an improvement in reliability and increased oil production from 2009 to 2010.
“Next year, will see another year of high investment on our installations, including a full upgrade of the control-room system on North Cormorant.
“Our investment in asset integrity underlines TAQA Bratani’s continued commitment to taking positive steps to ensuring the ongoing safety and integrity of our installations, while at the same time demonstrating a capability to execute complex work offshore within tight timescales.
“Additionally we can now look forward to realising the production benefits of all the work that has been completed this year.”
