TWO former Marathon Oil employees have ambitious expansion plans for their own subsea-engineering and project-management consultancy.
Stephen Rolfe and Steven Dempster founded Petrex in Aberdeen in July 2008. Its workforce of 10 is anticipated to hit 22 by 2012, while annual turnover of £1million-plus is expected to double in the same time period.
Mr Rolfe is a civil engineer, while Mr Dempster has a degree in mechanical engineering. The pair left Marathon after identifying an opportunity for a niche, independent provider of outsourced subsea-engineering services for smaller independent operators and larger operators.
Mr Rolfe said: “Despite the challenges of the last 18 months, we are very proud of our success which is in line with our forecasts. Our aim is to grow but to remain niche and focused on delivering a responsive and flexible service that meets the demands of the UK continental shelf.”
