International energy logistics company Peterson Offshore Group has reported a 5% increase in headcount and a big jump in revenue.
Peterson – whose Aberdeen-based UK offshore services business operates globally – posted revenue of £278million for last year, up 23% on 2016, while the workforce grew to more than 1,100. The latest headcount increase follows a 20% rise in 2016.
Netherlands-based Peterson said operating profits fell by £200,000 to £800,000 last year, impacted by contract start-up and international development costs, and a near-£1m rise in business rates.
The firm said it was seeing recovery in core oil and gas work, driven by new projects with clients including Shell, Chrysaor and Neptune Energy, growing international business and new work in renewables, decommissioning and automotive markets.
Chief executive Erwin Kooij added: “We’ve seen strong demand for our decommissioning services across the UK. Our purpose-built facilities at Dales Voe and Greenhead Base in Shetland are handling the decommissioning of the 12,000 tonne Buchan Alpha structure; and we are facilitating the decommissioning of the Leman platform from our new site in Great Yarmouth.
