Energy consultant Xodus Group has won a £1million contract for detailed design of structures and pipelines and front-end engineering design (Feed) of risers for the Huntington oil field development in the UK central North Sea.
The contract is one of the largest subsea projects the Aberdeen-based consultancy has secured, and is expected to provide six months of work for its Aberdeen and London branches.
Richard Heard, the director of Xodus who will lead its engineers on the project, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for Xodus.
“We originally did work at the concept stages so we are thrilled to have been retained for the detailed design of the structures and pipelines and Feed for the risers.
“It will involve an integrated approach with both London and Aberdeen offices involved in the project execution.”
Operator E.ON Ruhrgas, which has a 25% stake in Huntington, has agreed a deal with Sevan Marine on a five-year charter of the Sevan Voyageur floating production vessel for development of the field, thought to have 150million barrels of oil equivalent in place. Mr Heard said: “The Sevan Voyageur will have production capacity of 30,000 barrels of oil per day.
“First oil is expected in the fourth quarter of 2011.”
