Oil explorer Rockhopper Exploration is to drill another well in the remote Falklands region.
The company believes an area in the north west of licence PL004 contain an extension to its Sea Lion field in the North Falklands Basin.
It recently agreed to farm-in to the licence, giving Rockhopper a 60% stake and operatorship, with the remaining held by Desire Petroleum.
Drilling of the well, by the Ocean Guardian drilling rig, was part of the agreement of the farm-in.
Rockhopper said the well would be located in Area 1 of the farm-in area, which will become known as licence PL004b once regulatory consents are obtained.
Meanwhile, Rockhopper is about to drill its well 14/10-9, the eighth well on the Sea Lion field in its 100% owned licence PL032.
